In 1895, Bohemian Inventor Danyll, with his latest invention, the crystal stone cutting and polishing machine, moved to the Austrian city of Swarovski, in the county of telluride. Since then, Swarovski has blossomed in the fashion world, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of precision cut imitation crystals, providing elements of imitation crystal for fashion apparel, jewelry, lighting, architecture and interior design. Today, the Swarovski is run by fourth and fifth generation members of the family, with branches in more than 120 countries, employing about 24,800 people and generating turnover of $2.25 billion in 2009.
